Buying Your First Vespa

Buying your first Vespa is one of those life-changing moments that people go through. It is somewhat like buying your first ever home, but without all that pesky responsibility that comes with owning real estate.

If you've been going through your entire life riding in a car, closed off from the outside, you'll notice how much fun transportation can become on a Vespa.

Its very difficult to describe but it feels like you're not on a machine. It almost feels like YOU are going 35, 45, 55 MPH, not the scooter. The scooter just happens to be underneath you.

The moment you start to feel that wind brushing by you, that's when you know its over! You could never go back to being in that dungeon-like car of yours.

For anyone that has never ridden a scooter, I strongly recommend getting 50cc Vespa. You need to walk before you can run. A 50cc Vespa is just perfect for the beginner. You learn how to balance yourself, take corners, and most importantly should you ever fall over, you know it won't be at 50MPH.

It's also perfect for the college student who just needs something to ride around campus with. Day after day, you just start to get used it and feel more comfortable on the scooter.

After that, thats when you want to start moving up to the 150cc or 250cc. Now that you got the basics down, see what its like riding a vespa on an actual street with cars. You'll be able to feel the ease of moving in and out of traffic. The drive to work suddenly doesn't seem as dull as it once was.

Now, where would I buy my first Vespa? Well if you're lucky enough to live close to a vespa dealer, I would definitely recommend stopping by there.

However, most people don't have the luxury of that. A place I strongly encourage new riders to look is eBay. On this site, you could see all the current listings on Vespas For Sale that eBay offers.

The best thing about buying a Vespa from eBay is that you can actually find out about the Vespa seller through the seller feedback.

Let's say you were buying your first Vespa from another online retailer or just from somebody selling a Vespa in a newspaper ad. Do you really think that if they had previous problems selling their scooters, you would know about it? Of course not!

With eBay, you can see every single sellers feedback history. If you see somebody with a shaky feedback record, such as lying about the refund policy, lying about the condition of the scooter, then you know he/she can't be trusted. So you keep looking until you find a Vespa seller with a great feedback record. Then you know you're in good hands.
